Civic Reserve Recreation Centre offers an all-inclusive gym in an intimate setting. Old Treasury Building
Heritage Icon and Museum! Discover the history of Melbourne, from tent city to bustling metropolis.
The Old Treasury Building is widely regarded as one of Melbourne’s finest nineteenth century buildings. Designed by 19-year-old JJ Clark, this historic building now hosts exhibitions including the original gold vaults. Discover the history of Melbourne in 'Melbourne: Foundations of a City'. Dramatic panoramic pictures of the city trace the emergence of a city that by the mid-1880s was known to the world as ‘Marvellous Melbourne’.
Accessibility Information:
There is no onsite parking available at the Old Treasury Building, however metered parking is available in Macarthur Street or St Andrews Place. Alternatively, secure parking is available in Flinders Lane or the Park Hyatt.
The main entrance for the museum is on Spring Street, if accessed from the Parliament side of the forecourt there are 14 steps. Step-free access to the museum via the rear entrance. If you’re looking at the front of the building, the rear entrance is located at the back of the building. Heading to the right you can gain access without requiring stairs. There is an intercom at the entrance which contacts the main desk. They will reply and someone will let you into the building. Once inside, a lift enables access to all floors.
A free wheelchair is available for loan, subject to availability.
Chairs are available in basement level inside the vaults. Chairs are available at reception desk and throughout museum on ground floor. Portable, lightweight folding chairs are available from the Reception Desk on ground floor.
Lift in the museum is wheelchair accessible and have audio announcements. Lift includes braille signage for floor number. Some large, motorized mobility scooters will not fit in the Old Treasury Building lift, a wheelchair is available to transfer into if able. If you have any concerns, please contact the museum.

Important Information:
Gymnastics facilities are not available unless class booking is made. Bookings are essential for stadium spaces at Endeavour Hills and Casey Stadium to ensure availability. All casual access requires casual waiver forms to be signed prior to entry. Health Club access is restricted to 16+ years of age.
